What Is the Difference Between Blast-Proof and Blast-Resistant?
Although the term blast-proof building is sometimes used informally, blast-resistant is the more accurate description. No building can be guaranteed to withstand every possible explosion. Instead, blast-resistant modules are engineered for defined blast-load conditions.
A BRM’s design may be described using factors such as peak overpressure, measured in pounds per square inch (psi), blast duration and structural response level. These ratings help qualified site and safety personnel determine whether a particular module is appropriate for its intended use and placement at a facility in Alabama.
